Disappointed
Comment:
"The Walker Name in History" is a disappointment for the price. At $30 it lacks depth and specificity. It is a book with many excellent, but general comments about family names that can apply to any name. It refers to the Walker family name in sidebars, tucked away in the margins. It offers facts about the emigrants with the same last name who came to America. Even thought it is a small book, the information pertaining to the Walker name is less that one fifth of the total. This is not a scholarly work.
On the other hand, for a novice, non-biographer or non-autobiographer, the book is attractively laid out period photos and maps. The statistics about people with the same name are interesting.
My conclusion, this is not a book for a genealogist or a person looking for identity in his/her roots.
I was disappointed for the price.
Richard Walker, M. Ed.
