Summary: Good basic advice for basic writers
Comment: I read this book as part of a class on writing essays. The advice in it is apt, but it was too basic
for the good writers in the group. The nonwriters, on the other hand, found it all amazing and
startling stuff. I'd recommend it for those who have read enough to know what a complete sentence
looks like but have never seriously written before and want to.

Summary: it's all right
Comment: An easy read, it was fine, but didn't apply to what I thought it would... if you're looking on ways
to improve your writing, choose this book. If you're looking for how to write certain types of
papers (research, case studies, etc.) this is not the right option.

Summary: The Second Best Book on Writing Style
Comment: Of course, the best book ever written on writing style and word usage remains Strunk and White's
"The Elements of Style". However, William Zinsser's "On Writing Well" comes in a close second. I
have just re-read Zinsser's book for the second time in five years, and it yielded as many rich
treasures of writing advice as the first time I looked at it. An indispensable part of every
writer's guide - not just for professional writers, but especially for people who only have to write
occasionally for their job. The book has plenty of specific guidance for students, educators,
government workers, engineers, and everybody who must write to communicate - which means this book
is for everybody.

Comment: Don't buy this book. Save your effort and money.This book won't help you to become a better writer.
I bought the book because I was influenced by 5-stars reviews on this board, and, for my pity, I
completely ignored opinions of those who was disappointed with this book ( Sorry!)Those who rate the
book 5-stars, it seems to me that them just didn't read really great books on writing: John
Gardner " Becoming a Novelist" and " Art of Fiction"; "The elements of style" of Shrunk & White;
Thomas S. Kane "Essential guide to writing".
