Summary: The best baby name book ever!
Comment: I have never felt compelled to write a review for a book on Amazon until I bought this book! I am
in the process of naming my third baby. Although I already had five baby name books on my shelf, I
picked this up at the bookstore and immediately wanted it. I am so glad I bought it. Not only is
it a great book for naming your baby but it's extremely interesting to sit and read. This book is
so much more than just a list of names, or a dictionary of name meanings. After searching countless
baby name websites and my other baby name books I had come across no names I liked well enough to
put on my list. After reading this book, so many names struck me as great options. I have a list
so long now I don't know how to choose! Feel confident in choosing to buy this book! Good luck.

Summary: The most enlightening baby-name book I've ever read
Comment: This is the most fantastic baby-name book I've ever read. And I've read it purely for FUN. The truth
is, my husband and I have our minds made up about Baby #3's name (or, at least, we've narrowed the
selection down considerably), and STILL, I can't put Laura's book down. (I've also spent way too
many hours perusing her archived blogs online.)

So why am I reading a baby-name
book/blog when nothing will change my mind about our baby's name anyway?

Because
Laura's writing is superb, her insights are astounding, and her ability to present to us in laymen
terms the statistics and history of names is fascinating. I've never seen anyone pack so much
history (cultural and political) into something as "simple" as baby names!

I will
continue to recommend and read Laura's work long after I'm out of the market for new baby names.
I've even gotten my mom hooked on Laura's baby-name/historical insights....and Mom is pushing 60! My
point: this book should be interesting to anyone who's interested in the ebb and flow of trends
through history.

Summary: Helpful - but baby is still nameless
Comment: It has not helped us to get a name. Let's you know the popularity of a name.

Summary: Such a great idea for a baby name book!
Comment: This book was so helpful! My husband and I were able to choose a boy and a girls name in ONE DAY! An
unexpected feat for us. I noticed right away that the same names kept popping up in the brothers and
sisters name. I also found that I tended toward a group of names (ex: antique charm). It was amazing
& a bit spooky to find I was more predictable in my taste than I ever thought. The book is very
informative, not to mention a pretty cool concept, and I would highly recommend it.

Summary: Get this book!
Comment: Don't waste your money on some of the other books out there! i am on baby no 2 and can't find
anything as helpful for such important job!! graphs of popularity, ranking and matches for siblings
are sooo helpful. There are plenty of names in this book, and if you truly want something a little
out there, it can at least narrow the choices informatively. Enjoy!
