Summary: Excellent Practice
Comment: This workbook finally allows me to practice those frustating pronouns and prepositions in an organized fashion. Though drilling is not usually the best way to learn a language, this book helps alot with remembering the idiosyncrasies (for English speakers) of the Italian pronomi and preposizioni. I am also picking up new vocabulary along the way.

Summary: Needs a good editor.
Comment: I bought this book to gain additional practice using Italian pronouns and prepositions. While the book offers good explanations of these topics and plenty of exercises, two things have made this a disappointing purchase. First, the exercises use a lot of words that probably would not be familiar to an average student. While I appreciate the opportunity to learn new vocabuary, the goal of the book is to practice using pronouns and prepositions and the need to constantly consult my dictionary to understand the words used in the exercises is a real distraction. Second, there are numerous mistakes in the book, both in the exercises and in the answer key. I find this simply inexcusable in a foreign language text. While a native speaker would quickly identify these mistakes as the result of typographical errors and poor editing, a student trying to learn the language may think that he or she has made the error. Someone should take the time to carefully edit any future editions of this workbook.

Summary: Italian Prepositions and Pronouns
Comment: Italian prepositions and pronouns are a very important of the language and they do require a separate exercise book. This is a particularly good one. The exercises are excellent and I enjoy referring to the book constantly.

Summary: Great workbook but some inaccuracies
Comment: I have been studying Italian for several weeks and this workbook has been very helpful in clarifying correct pronoun usage. I find it to have just the right level of explanation with well designed exercises. The biggest problem is that there are a few inaccuracies, mostly in the answer key. These errors could cause a complete novice a lot of confusion, although they are fairly obvious (meaning they cause just a little initial confusion) if you have grasped the lesson that the exercises are attached to. As stated by a previous reviewer, you will need a dictionary to get through some of the exercises. You will also need a basic understanding of verb forms.

Summary: Difficult to Finish
Comment: The subject matter is tedious to begin with so you can't fault the writer for that. I found this book very difficult to get through and I am not sure why. I felt that many of the grammatical and usage explanations were incomplete. I think there are numerous errors and inconsistencies in the answer key. I found the chronic use of the progressive tense annoying and more frequent than contemporary Italian usage. This book has excellent word lists and great appendices. When I finally finished, I pulled those pages out of the book, punched holes in them and added them to my Italian grammar notebook. If you actually write the exercises in the book, it will be a mess when you're done. If you plan on reusing this one, do the exercises on a separate piece of paper. You may need a dictionary to complete the exercises.
